June 2016
There’s nothing like a winter get-a-away from cold, cold Canberra in June.
After a two day conference in Brisbane, we set off by car to spend some quiet days in Noosa and to warm our bones.
As walking is our thing, we spent many hours in the Noosa National Park. Just love that walking trail around the headland to Alexander Bay. Spotted a koala up a tree surrounded by a group of tourists. Of course we joined the mob to stare at him (or her).
Can highly recommend Peppers Noosa Resort for a central location. There is a bit of a walk down the hill to Hastings Street where there’s choice galore of restaurants and shopping. Hardly a challenge for us fit oldies, but could be difficult for some. The resort did provide a complementary golf cart for those not tempted by the hill for some incidental exercise.
Ok, confession time. We met a couple at the bottom of the hill who were waiting for the Resort golf cart transport. We looked at them – they were around our vintage. Challenge accepted. Off we set at a cracking pace on foot (trying not to appear running) in the hope of beating them to the top of the hill. Just to prove a point. Man -v- golf cart. And, we achieved our goal! Go us!! Although it did take us a few minutes to catch our breath. Oh, the silliness of it all……
The restaurants were many and varied. A stand out dinner was at Peter Kuruvita’s Noosa Beach House restaurant. Little did we know that Sri Lankan food would soon become one of our favourite cuisines a couple of years later.
Looking over Noosa from the reserve above Peppers.

Noosa is now one of our quick get-a-way destinations for R&R on a regular basis, just to relax, take in the holiday feel and enjoy the fab restaurants.
