Byron Bay – Old Hippies Never Die

August 2016

We have been together a little over six month now and have passed the test of travelling together and all the unexpected glitches you experience along the way.  Luckily, we’re both laid back and are masters at reframing travel glitches into something funny, or another adventure.

Our motto – never let a glitch get in the way of a good time.

We headed to Bryon Bay for some rather needed R&R after a work conference at Kingscliffe, a half hour north. Two days sitting in a room full of fellow practitioners in full learning mode called for beach time.

Both of us hadn’t been to the Byron Bay area for quite a number of years.

There were so many food experiences, so many tempting restaurants and the chilled atmosphere in Byron Bay was contagious.

Took a drive to Wategos Beach just north west of Cape Byron and then up the hill to see the lighthouse.

The village of Nimbin, a short drive away, was perfect for lunch.  It’s like being in a time-warp back to the 60s.  I’m sure I saw someone from highschool, a little aged, a little weary and still living the dream 🙂

Old hippies never die, they simply go to the aged care facility in the main street of Nimbin.  Yep – right next door to the bowling club.

Unfortunately, this was the only photo in Byron – we were too busy relaxing 🙂
