About Us

It was early 2016.

We met.

We clicked.

We began to plan a life together.

It was as simple as that.

Venice

And it soon became clear that we both loved to travel, to experience the wider world through food and culture.  Thus was borne the beginning of this adventurous and inspirational part of our lives, proving that travel is not only for the young, but also the young at heart and the curious.

Who was it that said that the 60s are the new 40s?   Perhaps it was us.

And so, the journey begins.

We’re now both over 60 and our journey together is still beginning,  We’re those two oldies who love life, who laugh (a hell of a lot) and who have been through life’s trials, ups and downs, marriage breakups and a whole lot of pain but have emerged the other side with our humour still in tact and with a thankfulness for all the growth and experiences along the way.

We discovered early on that we have a lot in common.

We love food, healthy food.

We love to travel.

And when we travel, we enjoy immersing ourselves in the culture, the food, the people and the diverse locations, often steering away from the tourist areas to become as close as possible to the people where we are.

We want to be those people in that culture, as much as we can while still respecting theirs and our differences.

We wanted to put together a record of our travels and adventures firstly for ourselves because, let’s face it, we’re getting to the pointy end of our lives and we don’t want to forget our experiences, but also for our families so we can bore them with email links to new blogs, cheesy photos that make them cringe and to give them the gift of knowing that life is not too serious and is for exploring.

Did I mention that Jeff and I love to cook?

Head on over to our other blog – Chef Jeff and the Naturopath for a healthy dose of food inspiration (if that’s your thing).
